The 2012 Winter JOAD is almost here!!! We will begin sign-ups for the Winter 2012 seesion on Monday starting at Noon. First come first serve on the sign-ups with all classes limited to 12 spots. More information available at Hall’s Arrow or on the JOAD page of our website.  

***We will also be available to take sign-ups in house on Sunday anytime after noon for those of you that will be here for the Warm-up Tournament, We ask that you don’t call for sign-ups on Sunday due to the full line of shooters for the tournament, we would like the phones to not be a distraction for the shooters. So again walk-in registraions are fine on Sunday, but any calls please wait til Monday. Thank You.

Indoor Target leagues have started, Adults in Tuesday Nights and Youth on Friday nights at 7:00, hope to see everyone there.

Friday is the first day Autumn, and we are in full swing! JOAD classes started Monday and Deer Entries have already started to come in since last week. Congratulations to the first five entries that have been checked in. So far a 178# / 8pt is the largest deer so far. We expect so see a lot more and have a great season. The kids are starting to get back into tournament modes after a nice summer break. It’s great to see everyone back in and getting ready for the Winter indoor season. We have just started to begin the sign-ups for the first Hall’s Warm-Up of the season starting on November 6th at either 10am or 1pm. Call today to Register!!!!!!

Next Sunday, September 11th : Please Join CTAA for An Important Meeting (incentives: food and prizes!)
The Connecticut Target Archers Association really needs your input at an important meeting, next Sunday afternoon, September 11 at 2:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at the South Windsor Public Library at 1550 Sullivan Avenue.

We really, really need YOU to join us, so we’re offering door prizes and light refreshments, and we promise to keep it short and to the point.

If you are a JOAD archer, or even someone who does not belong to USA Archery, but are interested in tournaments in the state of Connecticut, please join us! You don’t even have to be a Connecticut resident – we know there are many people from Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New York who enjoy our events also. Please come, participate and provide some input! If you are a youth archer, or have a vested interest in when and how the CTAA tournaments are run, you should participate in this meeting.

Things to think about when preparing to join us for this meeting:

We are in DIRE NEED of a Tournament Committee Chairperson. The commitment on your part will be an average of an hour per week (some weeks none, during tournaments a little more). If you want to continue to have archery tournaments in Connecticut – and would like to see more and bigger events come to the state – we need YOU (yes, we mean you) to pitch in and help. We have a great, proactive board that works together really well, but we need one more person to round out our committees, and the role of Tournament Committee Chair is one of the most important roles in the group. If you are interested, please respond to this email with your name and some background information, including why you would like to serve as Tournament Committee Chairperson. This position will be appointed by the board.

We are looking for feedback on the CTAA’s short and long-term goals (see attached). We’d like to ask you to provide some constructive feedback on what YOU think those goals should be, and whether we’re missing anything. REMEMBER – the CTAA is only as good as our members make it – so please give just a couple of hours of your life to come and contribute some feedback and even volunteer a bit of your time. Archery in this state will be better for your help.

Please send us an email if you plan to attend (though you are welcome to drop in without emailing first, if you would like). Please let us know if you are interested in the position of Tournament Committee Chairperson. And please bring your feedback on our short and long term goals to the meeting.

We promise to have light refreshments, and some GREAT ARCHERY PRIZES for those who show up. And we know we’ll be able to do a better job with your participation and feedback.

If you haven’t signed up for our fall Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) program yet, give us a call today to reserve your spot! We have limited spots available in weekday and Saturday classes, but they are going fast. Advanced classes will be taught this fall by Level III (Community) Coach Roxanne Reimann, and beginner classes will be taught by other members of our staff (all certified USA Archery instructors). We have lots of fun classes planned, whether you are a beginning, intermediate or advanced archer – so register today!

Parents and adult archers – there’s also still room in our adult archery classes on Wednesday and Thursday nights!

Remember, fall archery classes start on September 19th – give us a call or stop by to register today!

We had a great Summer and Fall JOAD is about 6-7 weeks out. We will begin taking sign-ups for Fall JOAD on Monday, August 1st, at Noon. Beginner classes will be weekdays at 4:30 and Saturday at 10:00am.  Advanced classes are Mon.,Tues., or Thursdays at 5:30, and Saturdays at 12:30, 2:00 and 3:30. We have had some people question us about a NTS (National Training System) class for the advanced students who wish to try out for Jr. USAT or USAT.  We haven’t forgotten the Adults, we will have Classes available for you on Wed. or Thurs. Evenings at 7:00. If you have any further questions feel free to contact us, by phone or by e-mail (richard@hallsarrow.com) and we will get everyone squared away. P.S.- Reminder that CT State Outdoor Tournament early registration ends August 5th. The tournament will be held August 20th, at Lions Memorial Soccer Field in Mansfield, CT. (If you haven’t gotten information from CTAA contact us for information.)

Just a Reminder to all Staurday Outdoor JOAD students, that there will NOT be class this Staurday, June 25th due to the USAT Qualifier/Noreaster this weekend in Massachusetts. Good luck to all students that are going up to participate. Relax, shoot strong and most important have fun!

Also, the Registration Deadline for the Nutmeg state games is right around the corner. Online registrations are available at: nutmegstategames.org. Deadline for the online registrations are Monday, June 27th. The date of the tournament date is Sunday, August 7th. This is a great local tournament for those getting into outdoor target archery.

Finally, the last JOAD classes of the session are right around the corner, they will end the week of June 27th, with Saturday July 2nd be the last classes of the session. We will be starting the sign ups for the Fall Session in beginning to Mid August. Keep an eye on the blog and we will let you know as soon as sign-ups begin. Just a friendly reminder that our 2011 Spring JOAD class start today, April 25th.  We are looking forward to a great session. The 2011 Spring JOAD is almost upon us. Most have already signed up the the spring Session, but just a friendly reminder to sign-up ASAP to get the time slot that works best for you.
